Network Trademark Domain Registration Scam

My general feeling from the similarity of the emails received and from reading other blogs (url’s at the bottom of this page) is that these are an attempt to try scare you into purchasing the domain name(s) through these companies at vastly inflated prices. If you are really worried I suggest you get legal advice but there is really nothing to stop you purchasing any available domain names yourself, either through a reputable domain name provider or a web design agency.
Dear CEO & Principal,
We are a domain name registration and dispute organization in Asia, which mainly deal with the global companies’ domain name registration and internet Intellectual property right protection in Asia. Currently, we have a pretty important issue needing to confirm with your company.
On October 28st, 2009, we received an application formally. One company named “Lushui Holdings Ltd” wanted to applied for the network trademark “—hidden company name— ” and some domain names through our body.
Now we are handling with the registration of these domain names and find that the Trademark of these domain names and network trademark is identical with your company’s. So we have to confirm with you at two points:
1. If your company consign Lushui company to register these domain names and network trademark , we will send application form to them and help them finish the registration at once.
2. If your company have nothing to do with Lushui company, they maybe have other purposes to register these domain names and network trademark .In order to deal with this issue better, please contact us by email or telephone ASAP.

Dear President&CEO,
We are a professional intellectual property right consultant organization in Asia, who mainly deal with the global domain name registration and internet intellectual property right protection.
Right now we have an important issue to confirm with you. On Dec 15, 2009, we formally received an application, one company named “Shijia AP company” applied for the internet keyword “Mexel” and following domain names:
“—hidden URL’s— ”
with our organization.
During our preliminary investigation, we found that these domain names’ keyword is identical with your trademark. I wonder whether you consigned Shijia company to register these domain names with us? Or is Shijia company your business partner or distributor in Asia? If you have no relationship with this company, we assume that they have other purposes to obtain these domain names.
Currently, we have already postponed this company’s application temporarily. Therefore please let the relevant person make a confirmation with me by telephone or email as soon as possible.Thanks & Regards,

I received a similar email; a different company, Anitroy Holdings Ltd wants my website and signed by Edison.

I, too have received email from Edison and Anitroy Holdings. I did not find any Anitroy Holdings in searches. Definitely a scam in my book.

In answer to that we did the following as a very tough measure.
1. We informed them not to contact us again in regards to that as they will be voilating the anti-spam legislation (Our council is on stand by).
2. We have notified http://www.antispam.gov.hk/ and raised a issue against the company.
3. We have also notified http://www.ftc.gov/spam/ and raised a issue against this company.
Hope it will help some one who wants to take a stand against this spam tactics.

Email I recieved is below. What are they trying to scam us into doing. He didn’t ask for any money or personal info.
Dear Principal,
We are a domain name disputed registration service company in HongKong, which mainly deal with international company’s in Asia,We have something important need to confirm with your company.
On the Apr. 15, 2010, we received an application formally. One company named J.E & Being Holding Limited applied for the internet keyword “xxxxxxxx” and some domain names relevant to this trademark from our organization..
According to our procedures and in order to protect your intellectual property rights, we need to send this email to the original company for confirming the actual relationship with this company. because that may relate to your intellectual property on internet. Now we have not finished the registration of J.E & Being Holding Limited yet, in order to deal with this issue better and not to confuse registering these domain names, please let someone who is responsible for trademark or domain name contact me as soon as possible.
In addition, we hereby affirm that our time is limited for dissent application . If your company files no dissent within the time limit,we will unconditionally approve the application submitted by J.E & Being Holding Limited.

Tina is at it again & her prices are 3-4 times the market rate. Expensive lady. We have taken defensive action, but all Asian registry appears tricky from Europe.

On July 13, 2010, we received an application formally. One company named “Derueng International, Inc” wanted to applied for the internet trademark ” —hidden company name— ” and some domain names through our body.
Now we are handling with the registration of these domain names and find that the keyword of these names is identical with your company’s. So we have to confirm with you at 3 points:
1. Is this”Derueng International, Inc” your Asian agent or branch here?
2. If your company consign Derueng company to register these names, we will send application form to them and finish the registeration within 24 hours.
3. If your company have nothing to do with Derueng company, we doubt that they have other purpose to register these domain names and internet trademark .

Yes another scam below is another version of what was sent to one of our clients causing some distress… We did respond reading the riot act to the below scamer…shock horror … we never received a reply back,… to old saying appears true again… “If they look like a rat, smell like a rat they usually are RATS”>

On 5th, August, 2010, we received an application from MEIHUA Group requested”***”
as their internet keyword and China (CN) domain names. But after checking ,we find this name is conflict with
your company’s name or trademark. In order to deal with this issue better, it’s necessary to send this email to you
and confirm with your company whether this company is your distributor or business partner in China?
